ULTIMATE SAFARI & BEACH EXPERIENCE

Combining the gorgeous savannah landscapes of Mara and the pristine beaches of Zanzibar, this holiday is an all-round short trip for those looking for the ultimate safari and beach experience. This experience is all about being out in the vehicle in the middle of the bush, surrounded by the landscapes of the African savannah and being able to encounter all kinds of animals in the wilderness. This sort of surrealness is topped with the last few days of your trip lying by the beautiful blue waters of the Indian ocean in the popular island of Zanzibar, leaving you with that holiday glow, rested and rejuvenated.

During your safari our team we will be doing everything we can to tailor your culinary needs. We will design and inform you of all the meal options during your visit. This includes full board options at our camps and lodges, and various restaurant options. Enjoy hearty main meals, salads, desserts and a range of delicious foods and we will inform you of all your choices on route.

ITINERARY

Day 1 – Welcome to Africa

Karibu! Having landed in the capital of Kenya, Nairobi, you’ll be greated by the flurry of the city sounds and sights, and we encourage you to take it all in as you make your way to your hotel. A guide will pick you up and take you to your hotel, and today you will have the option of either unwinding and resting at the hotel, or, time permitting, taking a visit to Nairobi National Park or Giraffe Park for your first peek of Africa.

Day 2 – An Invitation into Masai Mara

It’s time to make your way to Masai Mara! You’ll leave the hotel after an early breakfast, your guide taking you out of the city, to the suburbs, to the Kenyan dry terrain, and through some beautiful viewpoints of the Great Rift Valley. The Great Rift Valley is a highlight of any trip to Kenya, boasting its beautiful lakes and plentiful wildlife, and the natural topography backdropped against the blue sky. Take opportunity of these moments, relishing in the silence away from the city, with only the tranquil whispers of the wind brushing your ears.

Soon, making your way to your luxury tented camp in the midst of the bush, your guide will have packed a picnic lunch for you; remember this moment as you dig into your meal, surrounded by the savannah and your first taste of the wild. There’s nothing quite like a meal in the middle of the bush!

After your lunch, you’ll be heading out for your first game drive in the Mara! Be prepared for unique sightings of various animals; maybe you’ll be lucky and see a group of cheetahs lazing in the mid- afternoon sun, or out for a kill. Or maybe you’ll spot a herd of elephants making their way to you; proud and majestic in their strides.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again. There is nothing like an African savannah sunset; the cool wind in your hair, the glow of the setting sun silhouetting all that is in front, and the sky and clouds lit up with magical colours. Enjoy this. This will be the first of many African sunsets that will be memories captured in your heat forever.

As the day makes its way to dusk, nightfall will bring out stars one by one. Before you know it, you’ll be back at the hotel, freshened up for dinner after a nice hot shower. At this point in time, step out onto your balcony and take a look up. You’re about to be blown away (provided it’s not a cloudy sky) at this magical night sky arrayed with stars!

Let this day, and all that you’ve encountered lead you to a good night’s sleep, allowing you to rest for the next two days of full-day safaris.

Day 3-4 – Masai Mara

Full-day safaris are both exhilarating and exhausting, so make sure that you sleep well enough to keep you energized for the trips. Plus you need all the energy you can get so that you can spot animals!

No two wildlife encounters are the same, hence we recommend you to expect the unexpected. On these two days, you won’t notice the time go by, as you traverse along the savannah plains looking out for the animals, and admiring the landscape surrounding you. Not to mention the early morning and late evenings are going to provide some beautiful scenic views that will take your breath away.

Make the most of these two days, and hopefully you’ll have some fun-filled adventures that you can recount to your friends and family back home.

With the adrenaline slowing down as you finish your game drives, allow yourself to seek gratitude for everything you’ve seen in the last few days, and for what’s to come. Zanzibar calls you to rest and relax from this expedition!

Day 5 – Ahoy Zanzibar

It’s time to pack your bags and make your way to Zanzibar! Today, your guide will drive you back to Nairobi, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, to make your way to Zanzibar island. As you watch the dry savannahs pass by to valleys and back to the city, remember your experiences and give room for new ones – Zanzibar has a lot to offer!

Your flight will take you to Zanzibar, wherein upon your arrival by late evening, you’ll just see the flicker of the setting sun as you make your way to your hotel. It’ll have been a long day, but if you’re up for it, you can choose to head out for some delicious seafood, or stay in and take a long night’s rest after your day.

Day 6-9 – The Ultimate Island Break

On the 4 days of your trip in Zanzibar, you’d be surprised at how much there is to do. One option is to competely relax and spend your time on the beach, sunbathing and regaining that tan, taking a tip in the pristine waters, or simply relaxing by the ocean.

However, if you’d like to see what Zanzibar has to offer, here’s what you can do.

Stone Town is an ideal retreat for architecture lovers and those who like to wander round pretty and small alleys; exploring the areas for it’s shopping, culture and food. Opt to take a guide with this as to not get lost in between these alleys!

You can also experience sublime seafood that Zanzibar is all too known for, particularly during the night market in which fresh seafood will be prepared right in front of you. Interested in a couple of water sports? You can dive straight into the oh-so-blue waters and go snorkelling or even scuba diving and explore the underwater scenery around the island.

Did you know that you can also go on a little wildlife adventure here? If Mara wasn’t enough for you, head on over to Jozani Forest to witness the rare and endangered Red Colobus Monkey. You can also spend a morning on a spice farm, enlightening your senses with the various spices and herbs used in our day-to-day life.

You’ve also got the option to head over to ‘The Rock Restaurant’; a tiny island-converted luxury restaurant offering some fine seafood and Italian cuisine, plus a fantastic location to view a stunning Zanzibar sunset.

Day 9 – Back Home

It’s time to make your way back home! Although your lovely holiday has come to an end, you know that this trip has changed you, and you can head back to your home, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
